The Purple Effect: BTS ARMY help raise $1 Million through independent charity fundraisers
During his ending mention at Citi Field during their 2018 Love Yourself Concert Tour, RM aka Kim Namjoon, leader of BTS, highlighted the impact that ARMY, their fandom, had on his self-love journey. Through their song “Magic Shop”, the group paid ode to their fans when they re-emphasized the latter’s potential to change the world: you gave me the best of me, so, you give you the best of you.
Since the beginning, the influence of BTS’ music has gone beyond internal healing and has extended towards making an outward impact. Tackling social issues, the septet have guided ARMY through their music and philanthropic efforts to take initiatives in helping people around the world. Be it through free education groups, book clubs, supporting local non-profits, organizing charity projects at concert venues, or launching campaigns to help BTS’ industry peers with their goals for social good. The fans have always been action-oriented, forever at the front-line to help spread the boys’ message for love and compassion.
