Flash Fundraiser for Jimin’s Birthday: #KeepGoingWithJimin by supporting survivors of sex trafficking with Free The Girls
Through Twitter polls, ARMY had decided to support “anti-violence, abuse, and trafficking” as the cause for Park Jimin’s birthday. With that in mind, One In An ARMY and members of the ARMY fandom decided to support Free The Girls.
About Free The Girls
Founded in 2010, Free The Girls is a non-profit organization devoted to providing sex trafficking survivors a path to true freedom. Their goal for true freedom is measured by economic freedom, restored health, social well-being, education, and opportunity for a different, hopeful future. Free The Girls works in Mozambique, El Salvador, and Costa Rica.
Free The Girls believes that true freedom for these women is walking in wholeness physically, financially, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. The organization helps women rescued from human trafficking reintegrate into their specific communities. They see a world in which previously enslaved women are leading vibrant, successful, integrated lives. Free The Girls provides opportunities for human trafficking survivors to make a safe and sustainable income by selling bras in the local second-hand apparel market and offers needed support services to help these survivors achieve their goals and dreams.
In turn, this gives women global connections to other women in their programs and allows them to make a lasting impact on the world. Free the Girls believes that gathering income is a vital area of a woman’s healing process because if she is unable to meet her basic needs, it is very likely she will go back into a life of survival sex work.
Through One In An ARMY’s #KeepGoingWithJimin flash fundraiser, we aim towards raising funds to support these strong survivors of human trafficking while they recover and build their new life.
