Birthday Flash Fundraiser for Hoseok: We’re #RisingWithHope this February by Offering Mental Health and Wellness Support to Black Communities
New year, new birthday flash fundraisers! First on our list this year is dancing king’s JHope, and ARMY wants to celebrate his day by advocating for mental health. For JHope’s birthday, we’re #RisingWithHope with Darkness RISING, an organization that empowers the mental health of Black communities.
About Darkness RISING
Darkness RISING is a mental health non-profit organization in the US that provides free wellness workshops for the Black community, a Black Mental Health Resource Packet and a Provider Database, inspirational cover songs, visual albums, and concerts featuring Black musicians and artists who have also experienced mental health conditions. The organization aims to spark conversations about mental health, address issues affecting the Black community, empower the community through resources, and eradicate mental health stigma.
Darkness RISING has an annual mental health event called Darkness RISING: Live, wherein the Black Broadway community performs inspirational songs for Black mental health and Black mental health providers talk on several topics regarding mental health. The organization also hosts free monthly workshops where they partner with Black mental health providers and fitness and wellness instructors for each workshop that focuses on a different wellness topic. Due to COVID-19, workshops are currently virtual. Darkness RISING envisions being an LGBTQIA- and Black-affirming safe space where people can be their true selves.
